Call it a Dream

Sometimes you come across a moment and have to photograph it. It may be nothing at the time, but something to you, something questionable you take in. It's the way things fall, the way things be. The natural landscape does that, when you realize there may be nothing natural about it.

Young, 2010

Getting lost in the urban clutter can get to you, and lately I have been fascinated with the blankness of the landscape. It clears the mind, brings the truth, and captures the composition that is needed to move.

Forks

Revolution, 2010

There are many surprises in photography, and it's not in the photograph itself...but its how it makes you stop and think.

I was reading through my Guatemala journals tonight. This photograph I recently took reminds me of something that was static in my writings. Its about choices, actions, and the push and pull we have in this world. I find that the idea of having a choice on what direction to take, is a gift in itself.

There is a continuous tug we have, with each other, and with what is given to us. Its amazing how moments can pass us by without taking a stab at it.

Half Acre

Boom Box, 2010

Land plays such a large part of our being, and to photograph it can be hard. It's easy to shoot, but it can be difficult to convey the feeling of the weather.

My work room has become a mind mess lately--- old journals, post its, paintings, books,...... going through this can actually be fun. You start to recall your past, your thought process, and your now. What we surround ourselves with is actually a lot more than its presence.

When I think of this, I am inspired by Eliasson and his theories. The use of land, our actions, our being creates what is around us and develops the end result.

LoveRust , 2010

Ah, surprises. There is nothing better than finding a space that fills a void you never knew existed.

I have recently lost all of my photos... everything. And, to prepare for a gallery show now in the making is a difficult task.  What I found was a blessing in disguise..and a narrator in myself that I never knew. It has made me research my past, come across a new space, and make room for an ending that has just begun.
